Itasca, Illinois (November 20, 2003): Formtek, Inc., a leading manufacturer of metal forming and fabricating equipment and services, announced today that it has received a business license for its wholly-owned investment Formtek Machinery (Beijing) Co., Ltd. in P. R. China. Formtek Beijing will operate as an assembly and machinery integration operation from a shop facility it has leased for a term of ten years in the Bei Qi Jia High-Tech Industrial Park in the Changping District of Beijing. The business will assemble machinery licensed from its United States affiliates for sale throughout the metal forming markets of the world. The plant is initially focused on equipment used by the HVAC, sheet metal contractor and general roll forming. The operation will be managed by Li Yong (Max Y. Li) an engineering graduate of Tsinghua University in Beijing who has twenty years experience in the machinery business, primarily in sales engineering. Most recently Max was the Chief Representative of the Association for Manufacturing Technology (AMT) – Beijing Representative Office. Gerald A. Weimer will provide the quality assurance and control, assembly methodology and training and technical expertise at Formtek Beijing. Gerald has 30 plus years in metal forming equipment manufacturing, product management, sales and service, most recently with the Yoder Manufacturing division of Formtek Metal Forming, Inc. The 2500 square meter plant facility will open late in 2003 with machinery shipments into the Asian market to begin in the first quarter of 2004.
