Don Hill, President of Hill Engineering and Executive VP of Formtek, was awarded the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association's Honorary Lifetime Membership Award after the FMA Awards Committee unanimously agreed that he was most deserving of this recognition.
The honor is awarded annually to any person, who, in the opinion of the FMA Board of Directors, has rendered exceptional and outstanding service to the interests and development of metal forming and fabrication technology.
Although Don joked that he was surprised that he was old enough to receive the award, he said that it meant a lot to him to be acknowledged by an organization that he considers the best in the industry and stands for the highest ideals.
"I was surprised, thrilled and honored to be nominated for the award especially since I believe so strongly in FMA and what they do to promote our industry," said Don, who has over 40 years experience related to the Roll Formting, Tubing and Stamping Die Industries as a tool and diemaker, tool engineer/designer, service technician, estimator and sales engineer.
"There is a reason why people give forth their time and effort to an organization," Don explained. "For me it is because I believe in our industry and the association that support us."
Hill Engineering, founded in 1950 by Don's father, Reese, is one of the industry's leading tool and die innovators. As part of Formtek, Hill Engineering is united with a strong group of proven industry names that specialize in building machinery and systems for the stamping, roll forming and fabrication industries.
Don is a frequent speaker and program contributor at FMA and SME Conferences. Previously, Don has been awarded the Outstanding Contribution to Education Award from the FMA and is a past Chairman of the Board of the FMA and a past chairman of its Roll Forming Council.
